Whether you’re a die-hard Hitchcock fan or you just really need a good laugh, you’ll want to clear your diary for this one. We are officially bringing the chaos of The 39 Steps to the Little Theatre stage this April, and honestly? It’s going to be a total riot.
If you aren’t familiar with the story, think of it as a classic spy thriller that’s been stripped down, sped up, and turned into a hilarious, high-speed farce.
What’s the deal?
We’ve got just four actors on stage, but here’s the kicker: they’re playing over 130 characters. In about 100 minutes, you’ll see them sprint through more costume changes, accents, and ridiculous hats than should be humanly possible.
One second they’re a dashing hero on the run, the next they’re a suspicious Scottish innkeeper, a secret agent, or even a sheep. It’s fast, it’s frantic, and watching the cast try to keep up with the mayhem is half the fun.
Why you’ll love it:
- The “How did they do that?” factor: It’s incredible what you can do with a couple of trunks, a ladder, and some very clever staging. It’s pure theatrical imagination.
- It’s genuinely funny: We’re talking proper, belly-laugh comedy. Whether you love slapstick or sharp, witty dialogue, there’s something here that’ll get you.
- The nostalgic vibe: It perfectly captures that 1930s “noir” atmosphere—foggy moors, steam trains, and trench coats—but refuses to take any of it seriously.
Don’t miss out
We’re currently in the thick of rehearsals, and the energy in the room is electric. We can’t wait to get an audience in to share the madness with us.
