The Railway Children is officially pulling into the station.
Set against the backdrop of a sweeping Yorkshire landscape, this is the story of Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis—three children whose lives are turned upside down when their father is mysteriously taken away. Forced to move from their comfortable London home to a small cottage near a bustling railway line, they embark on a journey of discovery, friendship, and resilience.
Between befriending the local station master, Perks, and waving to the “Old Gentleman” on the 9:15 train, the children find themselves at the centre of heart-stopping rescues and local heroics. But through it all, their only real goal remains: uncovering the truth about their father and bringing their family back together.
It’s a tale that captures the innocence of childhood and the bravery required to face an uncertain world.
Our cast and crew at the SDC have poured their hearts into this production, capturing the wild beauty of the Yorkshire countryside and the simple warmth of a story that feels like coming home.
