21st July 1946 – 15th September 2025
The members of the Southport Dramatic Club were saddened to hear that our President, Ian Judge died on 15th September 2025. Ian lived in Southport and was a talented member of the SDC for many years, before becoming a distinguished and world renowned professional Director, working with the Royal Shakespeare Company and many of the international Opera Houses. The Club was extremely honoured when he agreed to become the SDC’s President in October 1996. Despite the enormous demands made by his schedule, he visited the Theatre a number of times, including providing workshops, and when we hosted the Little Theatre Guild National Conference the time before last, gave a superb ‘key note’ address to the Conference on the Sunday morning. More latterly, despite suffering illness after his first stroke, Ian sent a message of hope to the members, during COVID and continued to be interested in the SDC, by receiving our monthly bulletins.
Ian’s Funeral will take place on Monday 6th October 2025 at Mortlake Crematorium, Richmond at 12.40pm. We send our sincere condolences to Ian’s family and friends.
