Everyone is welcome to attend the Talk Up. However, please note that to take part in the play, individuals will need to be members of the Southport Dramatic Club, or be willing to join. If you’re interested in learning more about membership, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and find out how you can become a part of our vibrant community.
Auditions for The King’s Speech
Following the Talk Up, open auditions for The King’s Speech will be held on Tuesday, July 15th.
Based on the highly acclaimed 2010 Academy Award-winning film, this is the powerful and moving true story of King George VI. Unexpectedly thrust into the role of Monarch, he battles his debilitating fear of public speaking with the unconventional help of Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue. What makes this story even more fascinating is that playwright David Seidler initially researched it in the 1970s, but it was the wish of the Queen Mother that the story remain untold until after her passing. This truly is an inspirational tale that offers a captivating slice of history alongside a timeless message of perseverance.
