June 17 – June 21
A Drama Production by SDC – Directed by Cath Dunne
The Southport Dramatic Club is thrilled to announce its latest drama production, “The Wasp,” set to grace the intimate setting of the Little Theatre Bar from June 17th to June 21st. Directed with a keen eye for human complexity by the talented Cath Dunne, this play promises an evening of suspense, moral dilemmas, and powerful performances.
“The Wasp” delves into the intriguing reunion of Heather and Carla, two women who haven’t crossed paths since their school days. Years have woven vastly different tapestries for their lives. Heather embodies success, with a high-flying career, a loving husband, and a picture-perfect home. Carla, however, navigates a hand-to-mouth existence, her past perhaps catching up with her present.
Their seemingly innocent meeting at a café takes a sharp, unexpected turn when Carla produces a bag, not of nostalgic trinkets, but of cold, hard cash, followed by a proposition that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. What past connects these two women? What exactly is Carla’s offer, and what will Heather choose to do?
Performed within the unique and close-quarters atmosphere of the Little Theatre Bar, “The Wasp” offers an incredibly immersive experience, allowing the audience to feel truly part of the unfolding drama. This isn’t just a story; it’s an exploration of human nature, the enduring echoes of the past, and the shocking lengths to which circumstances can push us.
“The Wasp”. Prepare to be stung by its powerful narrative.
