Becoming a member
The Southport Dramatic Club (known as SDC) presents 12 of its own productions each year – 10 on the main stage, including 2 youth shows (1 play / 1 musical) and a pantomime – plus 2 plays in the Bar. The SDC owns the Little Theatre which is used for our own shows and hired out to other local societies and professional lets throughout the year.
This means there are many opportunities to get involved and the SDC always welcomes new members – from the age of 14 – who wish to be:-
- Actors, Directors, Prompts, Dancers, Singers
- Stage Managers, Light and Sound Designers/Operators, Set Builders and Crew, Wardrobe and Props teams
- Front-of-House Managers, Stewards, Sweets, Refreshment and Programme sellers, Bar staff, Box Office and Marketing

Membership Categories
- Junior: Age 14-17 (Annual subscription £10)
- Student: Age 18-24 and in full time education (£10)
- Full: Age 18 + and not in full time education (£30 + £10 joining fee)
- Country: Any person living more than 25 miles from the Little Theatre (£15)
Want to Join?
Twice a year the SDC holds a ‘Join Us, Join In‘ event for anyone to come and meet us, look round our theatre complex and join us in the Theatre’s Bar for a chat, a drink and some snacks. Check the website news updates and our Facebook page for the next Join Us evening.

However, applications are welcome throughout the year. Each month the Membership Secretary invites new applicants to meet the various Heads of Department and discuss how you can get involved. Following this meeting, the Membership Secretary will officially propose you and confirm your membership (subject to receipt of your annual subscription and joining fee as appropriate).
Where to get an application pack
- You can download and print out all the documents of the Membership Pack using the links at the bottom of this page and begin your new adventure at the Southport Dramatic Club OR
- You can email us with your details to have a pack sent to you OR
- You can call into the Little Theatre and collect one in person during our open hours (11.00 – 13.00 the week before a production and on performance days)
Once you have completed the Application Form
- you can post it to: Membership Secretary, Southport Dramatic Club, Little Theatre, Hoghton Street, Southport PR9 0PA OR
- You can scan or take a photo of the application form and email it to: memsec@littletheatresouthport.co.uk
Membership Support
We know it can be hard joining a new group: the SDC has introduced a Membership Support Team who will contact you to make sure you are receiving all the Club news (including the monthly Bulletin), arrange to introduce you to other members at our Friday night ‘Club Nights’ or at talk-ups, auditions, social events etc. and be your go-to person if you have any questions.
There is also a Youth Committee who, as well as selecting the Youth productions, look after the needs of our younger members, such as arranging chaperones for rehearsals and performances.
If you are not sure what you want to do or how to do it, the Club arranges occasional workshops on such things as voice projection or directing and provides in-house training for stewarding, bar, box-office and all things backstage.
