2024 marks the 70th anniversary of the death of Alan Turing – the celebrated mathematician, computer scientist and cryptanalyst who, through his work at Bletchley Park in World War II, managed to break German coded messages sent using the Enigma Machine. Breaking the Code tells Turing’s life story, from his wartime work, through his prosecution as a homosexual in the early 1950s, his enforced chemical castration and his eventual suicide by cyanide poisoning in 1954, aged just 41.
