Come From Away is a heartwarming and powerful musical based on the true story of what happened in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, on September 11, 2001. When U.S. airspace was suddenly closed in the wake of the terrorist attacks, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 stranded passengers from around the world were unexpectedly diverted to Gander—nearly doubling the town’s population overnight.

The residents of this tight-knit community quickly sprang into action, opening their homes, schools, and hearts to the “plane people.” Over five remarkable days, fear and confusion gave way to compassion and friendship as strangers became family. Amidst the chaos, bonds were formed, love stories blossomed, and acts of extraordinary kindness shone through unimaginable tragedy.

Told through a vibrant rock-folk score and a small ensemble of actors who portray multiple characters, Come From Awaycelebrates the best of humanity—empathy, generosity, and unity in the face of crisis.
