18-26 October
In Tim Firth’s delightful comedy, we follow the misadventures of Sheila, Denise, Julie, and Fay, a group of four ladies who find themselves hilariously stranded on an island during Pennine Mineral Water’s annual team-building weekend. Nominated as team leader, Sheila unwittingly reveals that her cryptic crossword skills are no match for outdoor survival, leading to a series of chaotic and comical situations as the team gets creative. Armed with nothing but cable ties, spatulas, and a sprinkling of ingenuity, they set about manufacturing makeshift implements and an impressively desperate rescue flag using plastic plates and a toasting fork.
As the night unfolds, our intrepid heroines engage in lively banter that sees questions pop up like playful mushrooms. Is it possible to build a snug night shelter from a prom dress and a sleeveless jumper? What exactly is Julie’s husband up to at Aldi? And, amidst all the chaos, they can’t help but wonder why they’re even enduring this team-building escapade when they could be luxuriating in a spa instead! With laughs around every corner, this charming tale reminds us that sometimes, the best adventures happen when things go gloriously wrong.
There will be a Q&A session following the afternoon performance on Saturday 19 October in the Theatre’s bar, where you can ask questions about the production to the Director, Cast & Crew.
