The Little Theatre Southport is currently home to a theatrical experience unlike any other. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, a play that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with heartfelt storytelling, has audiences raving.
From the moment the curtain rises, it’s clear that this is not your average Amateur Dramatics theatre production. The stage is alive with vibrant projections that transport the audience into the mind of the play’s protagonist, a young boy named Christopher. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill projections, either. They interact with the actors, morphing and shifting to reflect Christopher’s changing emotions and perceptions.
Adding to the visual feast are the dynamic moving lights. They dance across the stage, creating an atmosphere that is both electric and intimate. One moment, they’re casting long, eerie shadows that amplify the suspense, and the next, they’re bathing the stage in a warm, comforting glow.
And let’s not forget the sound design! It’s a character in itself, subtly enhancing the emotional impact of each scene. From the gentle chirping of crickets to the cacophony of a busy train station, the soundscape is meticulously crafted to immerse the audience in Christopher’s world.
Curious Dog is a testament to the power of technology in theatre. It’s a show that proves that technical wizardry can be used to enhance, not overshadow, the story. If you’re looking for a theatrical experience that will stimulate your senses and leave you pondering long after the curtain falls, don’t miss Curious Dog at the Little Theatre Southport.

Saw a curious incident last night – probably one of the best productions I have seen at the little theatre and I have been a subscriber on and off for many years – the audience was mesmerised from the start – you could have heard a pin drop in the theatre – all of the cast did a fabulous job but particularly the young actor who played Christopher – an amazing talent
Thank you so much for your kind words Elizabeth. We’re absolutely thrilled you enjoyed it so much and that it’s one of the best productions you’ve seen at the Little Theatre.
We’re so pleased the cast’s performance, particularly Orlando’s who plays Christopher, resonated with you. All the cast worked incredibly hard, and it’s fantastic to know their dedication was so appreciated. We’ll be sure to pass along your compliments. The atmosphere you describe – the mesmerised audience and the quiet concentration – is exactly what we hoped for.
Thank you again for your support and for taking the time to share your feedback. It means the world to us.
My wife and I saw The Curious Incident last night and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Everything worked well, the technology the staging and all the actors’ performances but particularly of course Orlando who clearly is a fantastic talent. His portrayal of a teenager with Asperger’s will live long in our memory, especially the solving of the equation after the curtain call!
Thank you so much Stuart for your kind words! We’re thrilled you enjoyed The Curious Incident. It’s wonderful to hear the technology and staging enhanced the experience for you. And yes, Orlando’s performance was truly exceptional, as was the rest of the cast. We’re incredibly fortunate to have such talented members, and it’s a testament to the dedication and expertise within our group. We’re so glad it created such a memorable evening for you both and hope to see you again soon.
Had the great fortune to attend a Curious incident last night at the Little Theatre. What a fabulous presentation it was, completely mesmerising. The cast and clever staging really brought Christopher’s confusing world to life. All of the actors were superb , but we surely have a future award winner in Orlando. His portrayal of the Autistic Christopher was wonderfully nuanced and his ability to remember all that maths stuff too, wow!
Thank you very much, Les, for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted you found The Curious Incident so mesmerising. It’s fantastic to hear you appreciated the cast and staging, and we completely agree, Orlando was exceptional. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the performance! We look forward to welcoming you to The Little again soon.
