Southport Dramatic Club – Little Theatre Accessibility Statement

Wheelchair symbol

We strive to make the Little Theatre as accessible as possible within the restrictions of our historic venue.

The auditorium is situated on the first floor and accessed by approximately 16 steps up from the ground floor box office and bar. Wheelchair user access is provided by means of a lift from the ground floor. There are no steps in the auditorium itself. There is a wheelchair WC on the ground floor.

Two wheelchair spaces are made available at each performance, situated in row S, and must be requested at the time of booking. The spaces can accommodate wheelchairs not exceeding 110cm by 75cm/43 inches by 29 inches (measured with any foot rests extended). For wheelchairs in excess of these dimensions, patrons will be required to transfer to one of the Little Theatre’s manual wheelchairs on arrival and leave their own wheelchair in the designated space outside at the front of the theatre. We suggest wheelchair users arrive at the Little Theatre no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. Please make themselves known to our box office volunteers on arrival should they require assistance.

Please make us aware of any access requirements at the time of booking. In particular if you will be attending with any mobility aids to ensure we are able to store them during the performance.

We sincerely regret that on the grounds of health and safety, and in consultation with the Emergency Services, we are unable to accommodate any patron who is unable to independently transfer themselves in to an evacuation chair in the event of an emergency evacuation or a lift malfunction.
